Iittala TEEMA collection for Finland 100 designed by Kaj Franck

As we drift further into the future, the Estonian crowd embraces Finnish design more and more. There used to be a time when in order to drink from Iittala’s Kaj Franck mug I had to visit my friends Tanja and Marko in Helsinki and sip my coffee at their place. I dreamed of owning some Iittala kitchenware myself and damn how good it would look on Instagram. Years passed, actually months :D and as I visited a friend who lives much closer to my house, Pello – we had dinner parties at his place always using his fancy Iittala dishes, hello Pello by the way! Now I’ve had a TEEMA set myself for a couple of months already and I haven’t unpacked it yet! It’s the special color combination design for Finland’s 100 birthday & it feels I should just look at it and keep it untouched forever. Makes it kind of hard to give up on my old ugly dishes. But I promise after this post I will get over my feelings and start using Iittala TEEMA at once.

Speaking colors, baby blue is a true 2017 tone, not salad green like the Pantone corporation tries to trick us. As I was choosing the set for myself I almost went for pastel only, but fortunately decided to go with some dark tones and I’m happy that I did. When looked upon closely, this darkness has a very Iittalaish touch to it, little light details in the navy blue ceramics are making it look almost like a marble stone. I love looking at effects like this for long minutes, reminds me of looking at the oil puddle patterns as a child.

So I gathered the best visuals on this collection from all over the web, lay back for eye pleasure.

Omg all this dish talk made me hungry.
